Try bonanza gives Aber bonus point win

Abergavenny returned to Bailey park on Saturday and welcomed Hartridge HSOB for what promised to be a tough league match . Once again the coaches had to make several changes for one reason or another.

Tom Powell Ryan Morgan and Curtis Price made up the front row Will Evans and Dan Horler were in the second row with Josh Davies Rhys Dawe and Ethan Thomas forming the back row . Rhob Connick and Rhod Webster continued at half back James Lewis and Nathan Byrne teamed up at center Jack Butler Anthony Squire and Ieuan Evans made up the back three .

The game kicked off and it was obvious from the start that both sides were intent on playing open attacking rugby but it was the visitors that struck first with a length of the field try .

Aber immediately responded with a Dan Horler try to level the scores only to see Hartridge score two tries in quick succession to give them a fifteen points to five lead .

This seemed to kick start the home side and they played some excellent controlled attacking rugby for the rest of the first half with three converted try's scored by Rhob Conick and Anthony Squire leaving the half time score 26-15 .

The second half continued in the same fashion with both sides throwing the ball around and six tries were scored,  Aber struck with a  try for winger Ieuan Evans his first for the senior team to which Hartridge responded with a try, then Anthony Squire completed his impressive hat trick to give Aber a 40-22 lead. Once again Hartridge came back with another score 40-29 .

As the game drew to a close substitute Alun Chessworth - Rickard touched down for the teams seventh try to give them seemingly unassailable lead 45-29 but once again this Hartridge side came back again to have the last say in a match that was very entertaining for all those who watched it . The final score being 45-36 giving a much needed victory and bonus point for the home team .

There is no first team game next week but the Quins will be at home to Mountain Ash .
