Reality Check for Aber

Abergavennys return to division two was a difficult away trip to NHSOB and they were well and truly beaten by a more clinical and match harden side . The game started well for the away side when outside half Nathan Williams gave them the lead with a well struck penalty and they further increased their lead with an excellent try by Jacob Buttler to finish the first quarter eight points to nil up . NHSOB gradually worked their way into the game aided by some poor decision making and some elementary mistakes by the Aber side and the home team built up an 18-8 lead at half time .

The second half continued very much the same as the first with the home side being very clinical to capitalise on any mistakes made by Abergavenny and built up an healthy lead .

When Abergavenny did manage to keep the ball for long periods they did look dangerous and clawed back one try by Nathan Williams which he converted to bring the score back to 36-15 .

Two more converted tries followed from the home side before replacement Nathan Byrne scored a consolation try for Aber to leave the final score 50-20 and a very big reality check on their return to division two.

Next week Abergavenny have a chance to put things right when the visitors to Bailey Park are Oakdale our bowl opponents who began their division two campaign with a victory so Aber will most definitely have to show a marked improvement to secure victory .

Abergavenny Quins began their season with a home game against a very strong experienced Caerleon side and came away with a terrific 27-12 victory with the Aber back division running in some stunning tries . Next week the Quins are away to NHSOB all support for them would be most appreciated.
